Situated midway between Bergerac and Sarlat, Le Castellot is close to a wealth of historic sites, medieval castles and prehistoric caves and grottos...
Le Castellot is 2km from Tremolat, a delightful village which boasts a delightful 'Bistro', 5 star restaurant as well as mini-market, bakers, post office and several art galleries/studios. Tremolat is also the home of La Basin Nautique, one of Frances top water sports venues where you can try your hand at water skiing or canoeing. There are also two tennis courts available.
Tremolat is centrally situated in the region known as the Perigord Noir which is famous for its fabulous countryside, truffles, Fois Gras, walnut groves and prehistoric sites. Most attractions are within 30 minutes drive.
Every day of the week one of the local towns or villages hosts a Market in the morning; we can provide you with a timetable. Throughout the summer there are also ‘marche gourmands’ in the evening – like a street party - where you can join the locals in a bottle or two of wine and a choice of excellent local food, but you have to get there early to get a seat!
Wine is amazingly cheap in France and wine tours are available in the region for those who wish to delve deeper into the subject.
For those who like fishing, Le Castellot is a 5 minute walk from the river Dordogne.
We provide guests with a folder containing information on the best local attractions that we and our other guests have visited.
